Gastronomy
Pintxos have no timetable and need a social outing. The streets liven up and terraces become crowded as people enjoy authentic Basque gastronomy going from bar to bar.

If there’s one thing Hondarribia and the Basque Country are famous for, it’s the food. Visitors are sure to fall in love with our cuisine, our local produce and our dishes.
In a fishing town, you can imagine what our star dish is, can’t you? The smell of the sea comes right into our kitchens, where we prepare the best fish soup in the world. Seafood features heavily in our diet, but our local meat also has a reputation for excellence and quality.
Traditional yet ultra-modern. Dishes that go way back, like hake kokotxas (hake throats), marmitako (tuna and potato stew) and txangurro (spider crab) are just a few dishes you shouldn’t miss trying during your stay here.
And nothing better than one of the best wines in the world to wash it all down. Our Txakoli is a fruity wine with a touch of acidity, sparkling and very refreshing. We’ve been growing the grapes and making this wine on rural farms for years.
