The essence of a town with a unique history

To enter Hondarribia you have to go through one of its gateways. Walking around the streets you’ll discover the history of a unique town, a place where the stones speak.

The Puerta de Santa María gateway, Calle Mayor and the old Munitions Store are some of the places we suggest you visit and let yourself be carried away to bygone eras.

A place where the stones speak of an extraordinary heritage

Plaza del Obispo, the Casadevante Palace and the Castle of Carlos V are just a few of the sights you come across as you stroll round Hondarribia. But if there’s one outstanding thing about Hondarribia it’s the colourful streets, with balconies full of flowers and attracting the attention and the camera lenses of everyone who visits the town. Another of the most well-known spots is the neighbourhood of La Marina, close to the old sea port and the traditional home to fishermen and seafaring folk. Charming Basque-style houses welcome you to the one of the town’s most famous areas, where bars and restaurants make for a lively atmosphere and from where you can enjoy some lovely sea views.
